Tom Luer Quintet
Los Angeles saxophonist Tom Luer's quintet began as teh group "Project Popular". Upon it inception, the quintet explored the work of some of the top rock bands and pop artists of the last twenty years, reinterpreting the now classic compositions for a modern jazz ensemble. Along with several originals, the band tackled songs such as "Jeremy" from Pearl Jam, "Black Hole Sun" from Soundgarden and Prince's "The Beautiful Ones," among others. With his wide-ranging and always grooving group of LA-based artists, Luer creates recordings and performances that are nuanced and highly interactive.
