Over a 25 year career as an educator, Tom has influenced the lives of hundreds of students. He is currently a faculty member at Cal Poly Pomona where he is the Director of the Jazz Band and the Applied Saxophone Professor.

“I’m thrilled to be able to bring my experiences as a performing and recording musician to the classroom. My students benefit from lessons I’ve learned in my career, and I hope it helps prepare them for their journey in music. In my nearly 20 years working in Los Angeles, I have cultivated relationships with the top musicians in the industry and I’m able to bring them into the classroom to enrich my student’s lives.”

He has formerly served on the faculty of the Los Angeles College of Music, Texas Christian University, the University of North Texas, and Bethel College-Newton, KS.

Tom also serves as the Jazz Program Director for the Shell Lake Arts Center in Shell Lake, WI.

The Shell Lake jazz camps have been in existence for over 50 years.
